Jacob Butler, CJF, AWCF has been shoeing professionally for 20 years. After teaching Farrier Science for 4 years at a college in New Mexico, Jake became the CEO in January 2007 of Butler Professional Farrier School, LLC (near Chadron, Nebraska). For a decade, he served at AFA's Anatomy Lab and has won horseshoeing competitions. He is the co-author of Principles of Horseshoeing (P3). His special interest is anatomy of the horse.
Peter Butler, CJF has been shoeing for 14 years. He graduated from college with a BA in English. Pete and Jake created, wrote and illustrated the original step-by-step processes introduced in Essential Principles of Horseshoeing. Pete has won horseshoeing competitions and trained horses. He teaches horsemanship, shoeing, and forging at Butler Professional Farrier School. His special interest is blacksmithing.
Doug Butler, PhD, CJF, FWCF has practiced the farrier's trade for 57 years. A Cornell University graduate in Veterinary Anatomy and Equine Nutrition, Doug taught Farrier and Equine Science at several universities throughout his 30+ teaching years. Notable: first American Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (FWCF) of England, “International Hall of Fame" member, "Farrier Industry Legend", "Outstanding Educator". His special interest is therapeutic shoeing.
